Jing Yu is a bioinformatician based in the University of Oxford working on rare human genetic diseases. He finished his PhD in genetics in the University of Nottingham, before moving to the University of Belfast for studying the molecular pathways underlying bacteria’s drug resistance. Built upon his enthusiasm on programming and self-taught statistics, he has successfully built an interdisciplinary career with a focus on whole genome sequencing in relation with human Mendelian diseases. He also has interests in big data, machine learning and data visualisation.
Jing Yu also enjoys helping young students, boosting their confidence in pursuing their future career. He has mentored high-school students, and still keeps in touch with them after they entered University.
